The Eurreel is a short, but comprehensive demonstration of my cinematography and editing skills. Shot in many different, unique places in Europe, this reel features an array of simple pans/tilts, rack focuses, medium shots, establishing shots, and close-ups to portray everything from the simple pleasures of small villages to the hustle and bustle of metropolises like London and Rome.
Ultimately, I want Americans and other non-Europeans who watch this project to gain a sort of understanding of the beauty and function of European society and bridge any sort of gap between these two communities.
For the spring semester of 2024, I was blessed to be able to attend Aberystwyth University in Wales, United Kingdom where I studied film production and got to work on unique projects and learn a bit about British filmmaking and television. What I was even more blessed to have the opportunity to do was meet wonderful, creative individuals who were also studying abroad in Aberystwyth.
During our time overseas, we spent weeks traveling throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. While not even all of the destinations we hit are featured in this demo reel, some of the most prominent locations are various towns in Wales, London, Amsterdam, The Hague (NL), Brussels, Luxembourg, and Rome. If I had not taken these travel opportunities to create a project like this Eurreel, it would have been a real shame and a waste of potential.
All this to say: I am delighted with how this project turned out. I am also endlessly grateful for the friends I traveled with, and their help with this! (Especially holding my backpack every 5 minutes when I needed to pull out my DSLR)!
